On the issue of short working area of wire drawing dies

Compared with domestic wire drawing dies of the same specification, the length of the working area of foreign wire drawing dies is generally much longer. A longer working area is conducive to the reduction and uniform distribution of friction force during the wire drawing process, reducing the wear of the inner holes of the drawing die, and improving the die life. A longer and narrower working area can reduce the gap between the wire and the drawing die, forcing more lubricant into the middle of the wire and the inner hole under high pressure, resulting in better lubrication pressure. The temperature of the wire coming out of the inner hole is lower, the drawing force is reduced, and the metal flow during the drawing process is more uniform, which is beneficial for improving the drawing speed and surface quality of the wire. In addition, this type of workspace design can also prevent lubricant from exiting from the inlet end of the wire drawing die.
However, due to the short working area of molds in China, the effective usage area in the holes is relatively small, which not only increases friction and exacerbates wear, but also wastes raw materials and increases cost investment.
