About the Basic Types of Wire Drawing Dies
1. When pulling soft metal (such as gold and silver), a steel mold is sufficient, and there can be multiple holes with different apertures on the steel mold.
2. Tungsten carbide mold is commonly used for drawing steel wire (steel wire). The typical structure of this mold is a cylindrical (or slightly tapered) carbide core tightly embedded in a circular steel sleeve (case). The inner hole of the core has a bell radius, an entrance angle, an approach angle, a sizing band, and a back relief.
3. Steel wire molds - For drawing non-ferrous metal wires, such as copper and aluminum, wire drawing molds similar to steel wire molds are often used, with some differences in the shape of the inner holes.
4. Polycrystalline molds - Fine wire drawing can be used for polycrystalline molds (synthetic diamonds), as well as drawing molds that use natural diamonds.
