Mold Production Inspection

The control of raw materials for molds is carried out from the following aspects:
1. Macroscopic examination
The chemical composition is crucial for ensuring the performance of steel, but qualified composition cannot fully explain the performance of the steel. Due to the non-uniformity of the internal structure and composition of the steel, macroscopic inspection largely supplements this aspect.
Macroscopic examination can observe the crystallization of steel, the destruction of its continuity, and the unevenness of certain components.
Standard "Rating Chart for Macrostructure Defects of Structural Steel" GB1979
There are 8 common macroscopic defects: segregation, porosity, inclusions, shrinkage, bubbles, white spots, cracks, and folds.
2.1. Evaluation of Annealed Structure
The purpose of annealing is to reduce the hardness of the steel, facilitate machining, and also prepare the structure for subsequent heat treatment.
The annealing structure of carbon tool steel is evaluated according to the first level rating chart of GB1298.
2.2 Unevenness of carbides
Cr12 type ledeburite steel contains a large amount of eutectic carbides in its structure. The non-uniformity of carbides has a very important impact on its performance, so the distribution of carbides must be strictly controlled.
In summary, due to the complexity of the production objects in mold production plants and workshops, which are often single pieces or small batches, it brings certain difficulties to the formulation and management of mold production quotas. In addition, the production methods, equipment, and technical qualities of each factory and workshop are different. Therefore, when formulating quotas, it is necessary to consider the actual situation of the factory and workshop, Find appropriate methods to develop both advanced and reasonable work hour quotas, in order to improve labor productivity.
