However, certain defects may occur during the manufacturing process of the mold, or gradually appear during service, such as microcracks, mild wear, deformation, etc. In this situation, although the mold has hidden dangers, it can still continue to work. This state where the mold has defects but has not lost its service ability is called mold damage.
The failure of a wire drawing mold due to certain reasons or the accumulation of mold damage to a certain extent, resulting in mold damage and inability to continue service, is called mold failure. In production, if the main working components of the mold are damaged and cannot continue to produce qualified workpieces, it is considered that the mold is invalid. The failure forms of stamping molds generally include plastic deformation, wear, fracture or cracking, metal fatigue, and corrosion.
The failure of wire drawing molds can be roughly divided into two categories based on the time of occurrence: normal failure and early failure.
After extensive production and use, wire drawing molds naturally wear or slowly develop plastic deformation and fatigue cracks due to friction. Failure after reaching normal service life is a normal phenomenon and is considered normal failure. The mold did not meet the design and usage deadline, resulting in early damage such as chipping, fragmentation, and breakage; Or due to severe local wear and plastic deformation, it is unable to continue service, indicating early failure. For molds that fail in the early stages, it is necessary to identify the cause and take remedial measures.
